Dr. Deepak Kotecha graduated with honors from the University of Houston - Downtown. He completed his Optometric training at the University of Houston - College of Optometry in 1989, rotating for approximately a year through Herman Eye Center and M.D. Anderson Hospital. Dr. Kotecha has a strong interest in the role of the Mind-Body-Spirit connection in overall human wellness. He also has a special interest in overall patient wellness and the role that nutrition plays in chronic disease processes, as well as in alternative and integrative medicine, Yoga and stress management. He is the Co-Founder of the Texas Yoga Institute, dedicated to all things Dharma, Holistic Self Care and ancient Hindu knowledge and practice of Yoga. Dr. Kotecha is a public speaker on Hinduism and has been an invited guest speaker at spiritual venues, locally and nationally. He has hosted the radio segment “In Quest of Hinduism” on Voice of Sanatan Hinduism Radio (Houston) in the past. He, together with his wife, Smita Kotecha (Advanced Yoga teacher and Founder of the Texas Yoga Institute, also an invited public speaker) has published two books on Hinduism for their children. They are currently working on their new book on Hinduism aimed at a broader audience.
Dr. Kotecha is a Vegan, a black-belt in Tae Kwon Do and enjoys yoga and meditation, tennis, swimming, cycling and soccer with his wife and two boys.
