Aparna Yadav, daughter-in-law of Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Mulayam Singh Yadav, strongly defended her reason for joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Aparna Yadav, the wife of Prateek Yadav (the stepbrother of Akhilesh Yadav), joined the BJP on Wednesday in the presence of UP BJP chief Swatantra Dev Singh and Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya.
In an exclusive conversation with a news reporter, Aparna Yadav said, "I am very thankful to the BJP. I have always been influenced by BJP's schemes and its nationalist ideas and will strive to work for the welfare of India."
"I am inspired by BJP's developmental work and our Prime Minister's vision. I will work towards nationhood and women empowerment," Aparna Yadav added.
Having vouched for the BJP's victory and the 'Ram Rajya' in Uttar Pradesh, Yadav said Modi's leadership and development work were unprecedented. Additionally, when Yadav was asked why she allied with BJP instead of her kin's SP, she cited different nationalistic views held by Akhilesh Yadav-led party that do not align with hers.
In preparation for the 2022 polls, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and top BJP leaders have begun campaigning together with Akhilesh Yadav, who has filed nomination papers to run in the next UP elections, according to a news agency. According to sources, Yadav will run in the Gopalpur constituency of Azamgarh.
CM Yogi Adityanath, who is Yadav's fiercest rival, will run from his home constituency - Gorakhpur.Under the leadership of CM Yogi Adityanath, the BJP has announced that it will fight alongside its allies, Nishad Party and Apna Dal (S).
In contrast, SP has refused to align with large parties such as Congress and BSP, instead choosing to align with smaller parties like Mahan Dal, NCP, SBSP, RLD, PSPL and keeps his doors open for AIMIM and AAP. Mayawati has already announced that she will campaign solely on behalf of the BSP in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand while allying with only the Akali Dal in Punjab.
A 7-phase election is being held from February 10 to March 7 in the 403-member UP assembly where Yogi has an ironclad majority of 314 seats. The results are expected on March 10.
